Description
Hennepin County's Information Technology (IT) department is seeking an IT Technical Services Supervisor to join the data center team. This team is responsible for 3 data centers that provide secure, managed power, cooling, and connectivity for the nearly 14,000 computing devices across the enterprise on a 24/7 basis. This team specializes in asset management, cable management, and environmental controls, using a team approach in its work relating to information management standards and regulations, as well as give guidance to risk remediation efforts.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street Minneapolis, MN 55487 and remote as job require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
· Provide mentoring and guidance to customer and technical staff inquiries using industry best practices, technical policies, procedures, guidelines, and strategic direction.
· Assign, coordinate, and distribute work tasks among team members and monitor for timely completion.
· Evaluate employee performance and provide useful feedback to enhance staff development as well as perform talent assessments through pre-qualification screening and interviewing for new hires.
· Support business level system maintenance and carry out strategies regarding equipment life cycle management and maintenance as required by our business partners.
· Communicate hardware and software issues and provide detailed technical information to other staff, customers, manufacturers, vendors, and managers as well as problem information to the manufacturer's representative or technical support organization.
· Coordinate activities with critical facilities and IT resources to remediate risks within the data center.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Seven years or more of senior system software programming experience or as an IT supervisory position leading a technical team.
o Associates degree in a related field (or approved certification in an information technology program) and five years or more at a senior system software programmer level.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or closely related field and three years or more of senior system software programming experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or closely related field and three years or more in an IT supervisory position leading a technical team.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Creating reports with an understanding of service and operational metrics.
o Drafting, reviewing, and enforcing IT policies.
o Managing industry leading critical facilities solutions from Nlyte, Raritan, Starline, Vertiv, and/or other related software programs.
o Working in a data center in a supervisory role.
· Ability to:
o Adapt to changing priorities, demands, and timelines.
o Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and contribute in a team environment.
o Successfully work as a leader in a team environment assuring customer satisfaction and technical excellence.
