This position has the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent may be expected to work in the office on occasion.
Our Principal Planner position will provide professional planning analysis and leadership in multiple areas of the Office of Transportation System Management, including formulating new policies, performance measures, and major investment strategies for the 20-year State Highway Investment Plan, the 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan, the State Transportation Improvement Program, and other related planning studies, capital programs, and performance reports. This position carries out research, analysis, outreach and leads Department initiatives to advance performance-based planning, performance measurement, investment analysis, corridor planning and other transportation planning and programming processes.

Here are the minimum qualifications:
Two years of advanced professional transportation planning experience that demonstrates:
Experience applying the theory and practice of transportation planning.
Experience performing analysis with spreadsheet, GIS and/or database applications.
Experience facilitating meetings with a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, Political Science substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.
