As a Service Center Representative, you will provide couples with their marriage license, process a new driver's first permit, and help residents understand their real estate tax payments. Every day, our service centers process hundreds of transactions and each one is unique to the customer. This job may be a match for you if you are customer-focused, detail-oriented, and have good time management skills.

Government Center Service Center: 300 South 6th St, Minneapolis
Maple Grove Service Center: 9325 Upland Lane North, Maple Grove
Midtown Service Center: 2929 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis
North Minneapolis Service Center: 1001 Plymouth Ave. N., Minneapolis
Ridgedale Service Center: 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka
Southdale Service Center: 1225 Southdale Center, Edina 55435
Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours may change in the future or include additional evening and/or Saturday hours. Work location will be assigned by the hiring manager based on business needs. For each location's hours click here.
All new hires spend their first two days of employment at the Government Center with the Service Centers Learning and Development Unit. During the first month, new hires will complete an onboarding program with that same unit at their assigned service center. Post onboarding, there are monthly trainings host by our department and our business partners that should be attended/reviewed.

We are looking to fill multiple permanent full-time and limited duration (temporary, with the possibility to become permanent) vacancies. These positions are benefit-earning and requires working face-to-face with the public on-site.

In these positions, you will:
Provide the following list of services: marriage applications, licenses and certificates (including same-*** and opposite-*** marriages); driver's licenses, permits and IDs; motor vehicle tabs, plates, titles and registrations; water craft, snowmobile and ATV registrations; birth and death certificates; hunting and fishing licenses; auctioneer, transient merchant, lawful gambling, liquor licenses, and precious metals dealers; notary services and notary commission filings; cross country ski licenses; marriage officiant filings; voter registration; and real estate tax payments.
Prepare and process various applications/documents for county and state agencies and collect appropriate fees.
Provide accurate and complete information and instructions to the public regarding laws, policies and procedures, and resolve routine customer complaints.
Maintain working knowledge of laws, policies, and procedures to process transactions.
Accurately enter data and update records into various county and state programs.
Perform cashiering, reception desk, and telephone duties.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Six or more months of experience performing public sector service center transactions.
Eighteen or more months of general clerical and customer service experience
12 months or more of general clerical and customer service experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
Six months or more of general clerical and customer service experience and completion of an approved business school or relevant technical college program.
Access to reliable transportation to travel to other Service Center locations within the Twin Cities metropolitan area as needed.
This position requires extensive walking and standing for long periods of time on concrete floors.
Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Processing driver's licenses and/or motor vehicle renewals.
Providing face-to-face customer service in a high volume, fast paced environment.
Using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, or other similar computer applications
Handling money or processing payments.
Ability to understand laws, policies, rules, and regulations relating to service center transactions.
Bilingual skills, Spanish highly desired.
Candidates with fluency in other languages in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
