Description
Hennepin County's Service Centers department is seeking a Service Center Supervisor to manage and plan daily workflow including setting priorities, schedules, assignments, communicating and resolving conflict with employees and customers of the Government Center Service Center. Hennepin County's Service Centers provide services relating to driver's licenses, motor vehicles, and vital records.

Location and hours:
This position is located on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and may change depending on business needs.

In this position, you will:
· Plan, assign, and direct the work of a unit of employees within the Service Center department.
· Select new employees, schedule, and monitor employee work, vacation, and training hours; coordinate cross training of staff as needed.
· Provide performance feedback, resolve personnel problems, and supervise and discipline employees.
· Coordinate with internal and external agencies/organizations on a variety of projects for process improvement in areas such as customer satisfaction and training.
· Serve as a technical resource for complex problems.
· Assist in developing program goals and objectives consistent with the department's mission and vision; interpret rules, regulations, and policies.
· Ensure proper accounting and security procedures for any monies received and assets.
· Ensure legislative mandates, departmental policies, and deadlines are met.
· Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Need to have:
One of the following:
· Three years or more of experience appropriate to the area of specialization, such as:
o A Senior Service Center Representative.
o Processing property taxes, property assessment, real estate recording and registration, or maintaining financial records.
o Establishing and conducting elections.
· One year or more of college course work in business administration, accounting, bookkeeping, or an approved related field (one year of college is equal to 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits) and two years or more of experience listed above.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Providing work direction to staff who process licenses, permits, registrations, and other service center/deputy registrar/driver's license agent transactions, or serving as a lead worker processing motor vehicle, driver's license, birth, death, and marriage records.
o Working as a lead worker or supervisor.
· Knowledge of laws/regulations pertaining to deputy registrar or driver's license agent transactions; ability to develop and implement policy in accordance with laws/regulations governing departmental support staff functions and operations.
· Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.
· Ability to:
o Communicate effectively with a diverse population of peers, supervisors, subordinates, government officials, and the public.
o Plan, assign, and review work.
o Motivate, train, evaluate and supervise staff.
o Build effective team and resolve conflicts.
o Make person centered decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment.
o Monitor and measure processes, initiatives, and activities and report on progress and results.
