Description
The Fleet Services Division within Hennepin County Transportation Operations is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, highly organized Fleet Services Service Coordinator. This critical role will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Fleet Services Service Center program that supports the fleet maintenance shop operations. This includes planning, scheduling and prioritizing the preventative maintenance program, commercial motor vehicles inspection program, coordinating and prioritizing unplanned repair work for various types of vehicles/equipment, and responsible for the entire customer service process from start to finish in maintenance and repairs for 80 county divisions/customers.Candidates for this position must be focused, resourceful, responsive, and able to perform their duties with a high level of autonomy and minimal supervision.Location and hours:This position is located at the Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Drive in Medina, MN. There is no public transportation to this facility. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Candidate must be available for on call duty after hours, weekends, and holidays.

In this position you will:
Manage the Fleet Services division service center program.
Oversees the preventative maintenance program for county owned vehicles and equipment; notify customers of due and missed dates.
Provide independent decision-making authority for all repairs and services including towing, safety recalls, warranty repairs, and vendor repairs.
Evaluate, review and recommend process and procedure alternatives.
Plan and coordinate planned and unplanned repair schedules of the Fleet Services division.
Schedule work for customers and oversee progress to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
Schedule sublet repairs and warranty work with multiple vendors and monitor their progress.
Coordinate and track the status of parts requests, outside vendor repair and recalls and invoices.
Dispatch outside repair trucks for tire repairs and field service.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Six years or more experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position and two years or more of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
Nice to have:
Completion of an approved two-year program in auto or truck mechanics from an accredited technical school.
Experience:
Working at the journey worker level in the repair and maintenance of gasoline or diesel-powered equipment.
Repairing and servicing automotive equipment.
Managing multiple projects and organizing work to meet deadlines and conflicting priorities.
Facilitating groups both in-person and virtually.
Providing excellent customer service.
Ability to:

Work independently and as part of a team.
Build and maintain trusting, collaborative, and effective relationships with employees at all levels, customers, and business partners.
