We are seeking a UX Designer to join the team. In this position, you will work closely with the senior UX Designer, playing a crucial role in designing intuitive and accessible brander user experiences for our human services websites and applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, product owners and stakeholders, and create designs that meet user needs and business goals.
Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.

In this position, you will:
Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups using design tools such as Figma.
Collaborate with senior UX designer, business analysts, and front-end developers to ensure that business needs are met and UX best practices are implemented.
Take direction from and collaborate with the senior UX designer to ensure the implementation of designs that align with business needs, design system, and user experience best practices.
Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to iterate on designs.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in UX Design and human services.
Conduct user research to understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points across various target audiences.
Advocate for user-centered design principles and compliance with WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards within the organization.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Two years or more of technology experience.
Two-year college/vocational technical degree in a technology field or an approved information technology certificate.
Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses.
Completion of an approved IT Hennepin County internship and one year or more of technology experience.
Bachelor's degree or higher in a technology field.
Nice to have:
Experience:
In UX design, preferably in the human services sector.
Implementing web accessibility best practices, including compliance with WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards.
Creating UX deliverables including wireframes, prototypes, and user personas to advocate for website and application users.
With design tools such as Figma and Adobe XD.
Conducting user research and usability testing.
Using requirements management and product management software for tasks such as Azure DevOps.
Using front-end web development using HTML and CSS.
Knowledge of:
User-centered design principles and methodologies.
Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
Ability to:
Apply UX design and development best practices, including content strategy and information architecture.
Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams focused on user-centered outcomes, including both technical and non-technical employees.
Participate in team discussions, recommend system-based solutions, and advocate for consistently positive UX.
Utilize creative problem-solving skills when presented with change and complexity.
Work independently and balance work on multiple projects simultaneously.
