Human Services and Public Health's Family Health area is seeking a WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Health Services Supervisor. This position provides a leadership role and reports directly to the WIC Program Manager. The person hired will supervise professional, para-professional and nutrition staff. The WIC Health Services Supervisor will; develop, implement, and monitor nutrition services specifically in the WIC Program; and provide program planning, implementation, and quality assurance. The WIC program serves clients at numerous locations throughout Hennepin County.

Location and hours:
This position is currently onsite at one of our WIC locations in Hennepin County. Work hours will be between 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. with flexibility but hires will need to be available during our client service hours with the possibility of some evenings (and weekends). Candidates need to have access to reliable transportation and the ability to visit sites throughout Hennepin County. Based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
In this position, you will:
Provide oversight of daily operations of WIC Program; maintain a working knowledge of all aspects of the program's work and address problems of daily program operations; resolve participant complaints and develop policies and procedures for operations in cooperation with Program Manager.
Provide work direction to WIC Public Health Nutritionists and allied staff; assign tasks, coordinate schedules, and monitor the progress and quality of work; ensure that the program responsibilities are carried out in a timely and efficient manner and provide backup staffing and direct participant services.
Assist in all areas of hiring, orientation, and training of WIC employees; provide feedback and coaching on performance as needed; remain involved in staffing issues, performance issues, and disciplinary situations; conduct performance reviews.
Participate in long-range planning, integration of new systems, and the development of new program initiatives.
Manage participation and coordinating major program areas such as breastfeeding promotion, developing nutrition education plans, and planning and implementing outreach activities.
Represent the WIC program at various venues including community events and collaborative meetings; serve as the liaison with WIC services sites and/or contracted agencies.
Collect and interpret nutrition assessment and socioeconomic data for WIC participants; certify eligible persons for WIC; provide nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants at the appropriate learning level; develop high-risk care plan.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Bachelor's degree or higher in nutrition, maternal and child health, community health, nursing, social work, social sciences, public health, child development, or a field appropriate to the area of specialization and two years or more of professional work experience related to nutrition.
Associate degree and four years or more of professional work experience related to nutrition.
Currently registered as a dietitian or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

With participant centered training, coaching, and mentoring employees.
Developing new community collaborations with partner agencies and working with internal and external agencies to provide client services.
Interacting with employees and clients from diverse populations.
Developing curriculum and delivery of trainings/presentations to employees, other professionals, and the general public.
Advanced knowledge in a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint) and Outlook.
Knowledge in motivational interviewing.
