Responsible for ensuring the Academy program is a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment for each child. Assumes responsibility for classroom management, developmentally appropriate curriculum and lesson plans. Each child’s self-concept shall be enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected through daily interactions and positive learning experiences. Supervise assistant teacher and set up classroom for optimized learning experiences. The Teacher will provide ongoing personal contact, meaningful learning activities, supervision, and immediate care as needed to protect children’s well-being.
QUALIFICATIONS
Holds a Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and current teaching license
Preferred previous experience in an early childhood or elementary education classroom setting
Proficient in providing quality care to a variety of aged children
Ability to provide leadership and supervision of an Assistant Teacher
Evidence of continued professional development
Ability to keep current information on the registry as well as inservice information

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to be to work on time, classroom set, lesson plans complete with a positive attitude at all times
Ability to oversee and manage a classroom of early childhood children (in ratio)
Ability to be flexible, positive and multi-task in the classroom environment
Meet qualifications stated by the Department of Human Services for an Early Childhood Teacher
Ability to have a clear understanding of the Core Knowledge Sequence Curriculum and follow the direction of the Curriculum Coordinator.
Plan, write, implement and post developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
Maintain student files and continue to keep them up to date
Establish and implement positive, appropriate and consistent boundaries with children
Sets up and takes down classroom as needed, keeping a tidy, interesting area at all times
Returns materials in a timely respectful, organized manner
Maintains classroom budget
Maintains positive, respectful relationships with parents and partners with them in their child’s education and development
Conducts 3 annual conferences throughout the school year (including a listening conference prior to the start of school)
Physical Requirements: Lift up to 40 pounds, repetitive bending, stretching and stooping, climb up and down stairs, have mobility required to ensure the safety of children, work with children on the floor, work outdoors, perform light cleaning
