The Financial Analysis and Accounting (FAA) division of Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) is seeking to hire two talented Senior Accountant who will be a leader in our Grant Management unit and support the accounting and finance function by ensuring accurate recording and reporting of financial resources.
In these positions, you will:
Manage the financial aspects of individual grant programs, such as grant reporting/invoicing, recording & tracking incoming grant revenue and monitoring grant spending.
Prepare general ledger journal entries, maintain general books of account, and perform reconciliations according to established accounting procedures for grant and non-grant related work.
Serve as liaison with the external auditors, Audit, Compliance and Investigation Services (ACIS), and State partners to coordinate efforts or provide assistance concerning accounting issues and/or submitted reports.
Assist the grants manager in streamlining processes for HHS grant reporting, assist in applying accounting procedures to solve accounting problems using the grants module and other electronic options.
Assist in training of new accountants.
Analyze and evaluate results by offering alternative solutions or recommendations for resolving reconciliation differences, budget differences or other problems.
Develop and prepare reports and financial information/documentation, including reports and analysis for various levels of management.
Assist higher level professional accountants, specifically the grants manager, in accounting system maintenance and the analysis of various financial records and accounts.
Assist in developing budgets for grant funded programs and in preparing recommendations for future budgeting purposes.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or other specialty area related to the position and two or more years of professional experience in a specific functional area of accounting, auditing or financial management.
Six or more years of professional experience in a specific functional area of accounting, auditing or financial management.
Nice to have:
Experience:
With grant reporting.
Using computer applications, including Word, Excel, and accounting system software.
Performing complex audit and reconciliation processes.
Developing budgets.
Preparing, analyzing, and/or reconciling month-end financial statements.
With federal grant compliance.
Knowledge and experience in federal and state grant management systems.
Ability to:
