Description
The Juvenile Probation division of the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking a Corrections Unit Supervisor. This position will provide oversight for the Transition Age Youth (TAY) Unit. As a member of the Juvenile Probation Leadership Team, this position will establish and implement standards for staff performance, quality assurance, and professional development.Â

Location and hours:Â This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 1256 Penn Avenue North, Suite 5400, Minneapolis, MN 55411, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and may include some non-traditional hours. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.Â

In this position, you will:
·      Provide direct supervision to Probation Officers within the Growth Focused Case Management Framework.Â
·      Utilize the Supervisor Coaching model, hiring of new employees, performance management, and complete performance evaluations.
·      Support Evidence Based Practices (EBP) efforts and effectively communicate and implement changes to the unit.
·      Serve as a resource and promote relationships with stakeholders, DOCCR, and other criminal justice partners including schools, employment agencies, housing resources, etc.Â
·      Facilitate staff meetings, projects, committees, case consultations, and unit specific trainings.
Need to have:
·      One of the following:
o  Master's degree or higher in criminal justice, behavioral/social science, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, law enforcement, education, business, correctional or public administration or an equivalent field and two years or more of full-time equivalent work experience in probation/parole, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, social work, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
o  Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields, and three years or more of the experience listed above.
o  Bachelor's degree in a non-related field, and four years or more of the experience listed above.
o  Seven years or more of full-time equivalent work experience in probation/parole, correctional officer/juvenile correctional officer, social work, or as a supervisor in a correctional or residential treatment setting.
·      Note: Completion of an Evidence-Based Practice Corrections Professional Certificate from an approved school may be substituted for one year of relevant coursework or experience.
·      A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.Â
Nice to have:
·      Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook or similar email system, MGA, ICOTS, and Court Services Tracking System (CSTS) or similar information system.
·      Knowledge of and experience with:
o  Principles of Evidence Based Practices (EBP).
o  Understanding of Growth Focused Case Management Framework.
o  Policies and procedures that govern the work done by Juvenile Probation Division and DOCCR.  Â
o  Working with community partners.Â
o  Development stages of young adults.Â
o  Working effectively with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
o  Interfacing with Adult and/or Juvenile Court partners.
·      Ability to:
o  Design and implement administrative methods and techniques.
o  Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o  Work effectively and collaboratively with collateral supports.
o  Collaborate or interface with Court partners.
