Description
Hennepin County's Integrated Data and Analytics department is seeking a student to join them as a program evaluator intern to help drive data-informed decision-making and understand the return on investment (ROI) of our county programs.

Location and hours:This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. This internship will start in May 2024 to August 2024. The intern will work approximately 40 hours/week.
While this position is designated as remote, hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.

In this position, you will:
· Conduct thorough literature reviews on program evaluation methods and synthesize insights to guide county initiatives.
· Analyze data from county databases, identifying trends, patterns, and relationships to assess program effectiveness.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance their program evaluation skills and promote a focus on data-driven outcomes.
· Prepare and clean data from diverse sources, ensuring its readiness for analysis.
· Create clear, actionable reports that present evaluation findings to stakeholders, aiding in strategic decision-making.
Need to have:
· Must be in one of the following:
o Current enrollment in a master's or PhD degree program in learning sciences, evaluation studies, public policy, statistics, or a closely related field.
o Recent graduate (within 6 months) in a master's or PhD degree program in learning sciences, evaluation studies, public policy, statistics, or a closely related field.
· Currently enrolled or have completed coursework in evaluation theory, quantitative and qualitative research methods.
· Access to reliable internet connection and self-supported remote office space.
Nice to have:
· Experience with:
o Designing and implementing program evaluation projects, including developing evaluation questions, selecting methodologies, and reporting results.
o Microsoft Office or equivalent Google Products.
o Qualitative data analysis.
o Quantitative data analysis.
o Statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS)
o Data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau)
· Effective communication skills.
