Description
Hennepin County's Service Center is looking for a Vital Records Intern to support the department.
In this role, you will work with the Vital Records Unit and the Vital Records Digitization team to prepare, process, record, inventory and correct a variety of licenses, permits, registrations, certificates, and applications. You will also learn how to create training documentation for new processes.
This internship is a match for you if you are customer focused, detail oriented, self-motivated and can work independently, prioritize, and multitask in a very fast paced environment. This internship gives you an opportunity to work with current and historical vital record documents. SCOPE (Student Collegiate Opportunities for Professional Employment) is a county-wide program to employ students from colleges and other post-secondary learning institutions as interns in order to prepare them for future employment opportunities with the county. These positions are eligible for benefits including, but not limited to, health, life, and dental insurance, paid time off (PTO), and an annual tuition reimbursement of up to $5,250. Location and hours: This position will be performed on-site at 701 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis MN 55415. The internship will require working 15-20 hours per week. When school is not in session the intern may work up to 40 hours per week depending on student interest and availability. Work hours may be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility. This internship is expected to start June 2023 and may last up to one year in duration with a potential to extend.
About this position: This is a limited duration part-time benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a SCOPE Service Center Representative. Click here to view the job classification specification. Individuals hired into a SCOPE internship class are temporary and part-time. They may be eligible to be appointed to a regular position after completing their educational program.
In this position you will:
· Support reverification of historical Vital Records documents.
· Document, prepare, process, record, inventory and correct a variety of licenses, permits, registrations, certificates, and applications.
· Assist with developing materials, trainings, and new processes.
Need to have:
· Current enrollment in an associate or bachelor's degree program for the 2023-2024 academic school year
· Access to reliable transportation
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Using scanning and imaging software such as FileNet and Kofax.
o Using Microsoft Office applications or Google equivalents.
o Working in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to:
o Work effectively with vendors, departments and county staff in a professional manner and be respectful to others.
o Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Learn software tools and programs to accomplish assignments.
About the department: Hennepin County Service Centers partners with the State of Minnesota to provide driver’s license/ID, motor vehicle registration, birth, death, and marriage records, marriage license, snowmobile/ATV/boat registration, and a variety of other public services to residents.
