Overview
The Investment Accountant role is responsible for the timely entry and reconciliation of holdings, transactions, and values of assigned brokerage and asset accounts. This role ensures accurate and timely distribution of portfolio and client data, statements, and reports. The role requires accounting knowledge, diligence, an ability to meet deadlines, and effective communication and organization skills.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Adhere to effective accounting policies, procedures, calendars, and KPIs to ensure accurate daily, monthly, and quarterly deliverables.
• Reconcile daily, monthly, or quarterly investment records and activities.
o Compare, investigate, and reconcile external custodial records with investment accounting systems.
o Review and post transactions from the investment accounting system to the general ledger.
o Calculate and post period end market value entries.
o Ensure cost and market values are consistent across systems.
• Create and distribute financial statements.
o Perform self-review or second review of financial statements for reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
o Proactively monitor workflows to identify and resolve issues and approvals to ensure accurate and timely distribution of data and reports.
• Process daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly journal entries for financial reporting.
• Participate or lead meetings, projects, and initiatives as requested.
Professional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in investments or financial services.
• Knowledge of traditional and alternative investments, accounting treatments, reconciliation, and systems (e.g., Clearwater, Caissa, Addepar, Advent, JD Edwards).
• Strong working knowledge of Excel required (specifically v-lookups and pivot tables)
• Experience performing balance sheet and portfolio account reconciliations.
• Initiative-taker, able to work effectively as both and individual contributor and a team.
• Adaptable, dependable, and meticulous.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Strong organization skills and ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must display positive attitude in managing interactions with others inside and outside the company.
Working Conditions
The physical working conditions of this position include an office environment where sitting and working on a computer for extended periods of time are common.
Hybrid Work Environments
We operate a hybrid work environment. Employees are required to be in the office Wednesdays and a minimum of two other days per week, for a total of three days in office and two days remote. This work arrangement is subject to change at the discretion of Waycrosse.
