DescriptionWe are hiring two Naloxone Educators for NorthPoint Health and Wellness’s Harm Reduction program. These roles work in the “To the Point” department, NorthPoint’s family planning, harm reduction, and sexual health program. These positions offer a great opportunity to work at a wholistic clinic and dynamic workplace. Our program staff works in the clinic and in the community to share information about overdose risk, identification, and reversal, as well as the impact of opioid use in the African American and Indigenous populations in Minneapolis. Our role is to provide people with resources, information, Naloxone use training, and harm reduction resources in the community. Salary: These are grant-funded positions with an expected salary up to $50,000.00 annually. Location and hours: These positions will take place in multiple locations, including but not limited to 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411, and other community locations as necessary. Primary work hours will be Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening/weekend hours as community opportunities provide. About these position types: These are grant-funded full-time, benefit-earning positions expected to last until September 2024 with the possibility of extension. These positions are internally classified as a Community Health Worker, Senior. Click here to view the job classification specification. In these positions, you will:
Develop culturally aware and responsive trainings and educational materials for African American and Indigenous Northside residents.
Provide six trainings quarterly to Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT); other Northside treatment service organizations; community members, and clinics.
Recruit organizations to provide opportunities for staff to conduct overdose prevention trainings to people who inject drugs (PWID)/people who use drugs (PWUD).
Provide 3 overdose prevention trainings quarterly to PWID/PWUD.
Connect with Syringe Exchange/Harm Reduction programs that are unfunded for Naloxone to develop a monthly schedule for Naloxone pick up and distribution.
Provide weekly syringe exchange support, one to one sessions with clients via phone/in-person encounter and provide education/print materials on Naloxone administration and harm reduction strategies.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Completion of two or more years of college, in social/ behavioral sciences or another field related to the area.
Two or more years of experience working in a community outreach or public health setting.
Note: Experience working in a community outreach or public health setting may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation to travel to Hennepin County worksites that are not easily accessible by public transportation.
Ability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate evening and weekend outreach events.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Working in a community services or healthcare setting.
Presenting health-related information to community members.
Using databases to enter data in forms and running reports.
With overdose risk, identification, and reversal, as well as the impact of opioid use in the African American and Indigenous populations in Minneapolis.
Working sensitively and competently within diverse populations including, but not limited to, African American, Indigenous, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Knowledge of:
Culturally specific beliefs and practices that influence client’s ability to access Harm Reduction and Naloxone distribution resources.
Federal, state, and county public health functions, regulations, policies, procedures, and programs.
Ability to:
Ability to communicate in a culturally sensitive and unbiased/non-judgmental manner.
Work tactfully and effectively with the general public, staff, and other health professionals.
Skill in excellent written and verbal communication skills.
