Description
The Hennepin County Library's (HCL) Library Community Engagement work unit is seeking to fill two Senior Librarian positions. These Senior Librarians are responsible for working closely with the members of the Library Community Engagement work unit to provide systemwide support in the areas of community engagement, outreach, partnerships, and programs. This position will report to one of the Community Engagement Coordinators.
All Senior Librarians who are part of the Library Community Engagement work unit collaboratively provide systemwide support. In addition, Senior Librarians have individual responsibilities related to specific areas of Hennepin County Library’s services and strategic priorities. These responsibilities include coordination of community engagement, outreach, partnerships, and programs.

Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at Ridgedale Library 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN 55305, at libraries throughout Hennepin County, and remotely as job duties require. There is an expectation of at least 2 days per week onsite or in community. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. with some flexibility, with occasional evening or weekend work to support community engagement activities. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
· Work collaboratively as a member of the Library Community Engagement work unit to lead and support library strategic priorities both systemwide and as they pertain to the individual responsibilities related to specific areas of Hennepin County Library’s services and strategic priorities.
· Develop and maintain system level partnerships as identified by the Library Community Engagement work unit and particularly as they pertain to the individual responsibilities related to specific areas of Hennepin County Library’s services and strategic priorities.
· Lead or support systemwide or cross divisional projects.
· Support and coach building supervisors and staff in identifying outcomes and setting goals that are in alignment with Hennepin County Library’s strategic plan in the areas of community engagement, outreach, partnerships, and programs.
· Develop process supports, tools, and guidance to support public services staff in their work with local communities.
· Participate in or lead county and library teams and initiatives.
· Implement policies, strategies and procedures set by the county and HCL.
Need to have:
· An ALA-accredited master's degree or higher and three years or more of professional library experience
Nice to have:
· Experience with:
o Delivering inclusive and responsive customer service to diverse communities.
o Coordinating, leading, and facilitating multiple projects across different departments and divisions while meeting deadlines and stakeholder expectations.
o Identifying outcomes and familiarity with assessment and evaluation.
o Creative problem solving and process improvement skills.
· Ability to communicate clearly in-person and in writing, particularly about library priorities, services, and standards.
· Knowledge of MS Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
· An understanding of and commitment to diversity and inclusion work and how it relates to community engagement.
