Do you have one year or more of experience as a Peace Officer and have an active MN Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) license? Come join our team as a Deputy Sheriff with our Patrol unit.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Patrol unit provides emergency response throughout the county. Patrol deputies also provide primary law enforcement to Greenfield, Hanover, Medicine Lake, Rockford, Fort Snelling, 133rd Minnesota Air National Guard, 934th U.S. Air Force Air Wing, and the U.S. Marine Corp/Navy Reserves. The Sheriff's Office executes arrest warrants, commitments, and other court orders for persons wanted in and outside of Hennepin County. The Sheriff’s Office executes about 3,000 new warrants each month and resolves about the same number. Deputy Sheriff’s also extradite wanted individuals back to Hennepin County who have been arrested in other counties or states. Deputies will be assigned to traffic or directed enforcement details throughout all communities in Hennepin County. You will have the opportunity to qualify for the tactical team, dive team, crisis negotiator team, or the sonar team.

Location and hours:This position will be on-site at the Patrol Unit office located at 9401 83rd Avenue North, Brooklyn Park, MN 55455. This position requires working a flexible schedule including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and is subject to emergency call back 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

In this position, you will:
· Respond to emergency 911 calls for service.
· Enforce criminal statues, traffic laws and report traffic hazards.
· Respond to calls for police service and take appropriate action in assisting citizens.
· Conduct proactive patrolling and intelligence led police work.
· Write complete and accurate reports on all activity in which you are involved.
· Arrest violators, secure evidence and testify in court according to law.
· Serve misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor, and felony arrest warrants throughout Hennepin County.
· Travel out-of-county and out-of-state to pick up and transport prisoners to the Adult Detention Division and courts.
· Perform other related duties as directed by the Sheriff.
· All deputies are subject to call 24 hours a day.
Need to have:
· Licensure or eligible to be licensed as a peace officer by hire date in the state of Minnesota by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
· The ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening, overnight, on-call, holiday, and weekend hours.
· Possess no convictions of a felony or other criminal conviction as outlined in the MN POST Board rules.
· Pass each of the following exam components:
o Background investigation.
o Physical abilities test.
o Psychological evaluation.
o Medical examination.
o Drug screening.
o Firearms evaluation.
Nice to have:

o Deal with a broad spectrum of people in society, from judges and attorneys to criminals and mentally handicapped individuals.
Applicants must have no felony convictions and must successfully complete a drug test, extensive background investigation, and a pre-employment physical and psychological assessment prior to employment.
