AmeriCorps Youth Outdoors Members (ages 18-25) perform natural resource restoration projects with a crew of Twin Cities youth in after-school service projects and environmental education.
Corpsmembers lead crews of Twin Cities’ youth participants in innovative environmental education and mentor them through multiple community service projects. Corpsmembers will be responsible for the overall coordination of the young adult programs across Saint Paul.
In the summer, Corpsmembers will complete natural resource restoration projects in partnership with public land management agencies such as the State Department of Natural Resources, US Fish & Wildlife Service, National Park Service, cities, counties, and trail associations.
Members develop technical skills throughout their term while completing challenging and impactful conservation projects. Natural resources projects may include:
Invasive species management
Emergency response work.
Corporate and community outreach and education.
This is a full-time commitment for a year-long AmeriCorps service term. The Crew Member or Leader will receive a monthly stipend and an education award upon successful completion of the term that may be used for education expenses or to repay qualified student loans.
