The Economic Supports area in Human Services and Public Health is seeking multiple Human Services Supervisors. These positions will oversee the family shelter overflow operations which is a 24/7 operation. These positions will maintain effective working relationships with other program management and the administrative team. These positions will facilitate cohesive and supportive collaboration between program leadership, volunteers, and community partners building confidence and teamwork among those involved. Location and hours: These positions will be onsite at various offices in Hennepin County with the possibility of some community engagement work. Typical work hours will range from three shifts, Monday through Sunday.

In these positions, you will:
Manage service area operations by:
Collaborating with other supervisors, managers, and workforce management to manage real-time operations in both a virtual and onsite environment with a shared leadership approach to provide feedback and support to maintain and improve operations; including but not limited to technical support and supporting adherence of expectations.
Being responsible for facility and administrative functions for overflow shelter operations.
Creating protocols around problem solving complex situations when there is a conflict, difference of opinion, or onsite crisis.
Evaluating and coaching individual performance to improve operations and the individual’s strengths and skills.
Providing staff with clear direction and support for policy, program, and processes to ensure appropriate deadlines are met and team members follow a holistic, person centered and trauma informed approach for service delivery.
Approaching client interactions from a solution focused lens to provide options for families.
Assisting staff to understand the impact and the importance of their work in relation to the county's mission and purpose.
Regularly communicating and collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure positive client outcomes.
Utilizing data and the Racial Equity Impact Tool (REIT) to inform work and problem solve to continuously improve processes and results.
Complete supervision responsibilities/administrative activities by:
Delegating work direction to staff onsite.
Developing staff through engagement and performance management including Individual Development Plans (IDPs) with direct reports, general check-ins, and assuring required and/or developmental trainings are completed.
Approving timecards, overseeing all leave statuses, performance issues, and completing annual reviews.
Participating in committees, projects, meetings, and modeling new processes and procedures.
Promoting area, department, and county-wide direction and change initiatives.
Providing staff with direction and support for agency rules, labor contracts, regulations, and policies.
Collecting and ensuring accurate data is being collected regularly and accessible to the team.
Written communication on policy revisions, updates, safety concerns, Covid protocols, etc.
Need to have:
Four years or more of paraprofessional experience in determining appropriate funding sources for financial assistance, performing support collection activities, and/or providing employment readiness assistance. Note: Supervisory experience in a human services setting may be substituted for up to two years of paraprofessional experience on a year for year basis.
Access to reliable transportation to travel to various sites throughout Hennepin County.

Providing direction or leadership to peers or subordinate co-workers in a human services setting. (This experience may be formal supervisory experience or experience mentoring, training, or coaching, or in an informal role as a subject matter expert.)
Problem solving complex situations when there is a conflict or difference in opinion.
Using Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Using Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
Working with individuals or families in a shelter environment.
Working with and understanding contracts.
With federal and state Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), cash assistance, and health care assistance programs.
Ability to:
Collect and analyze data to inform or improve operations.
Work collaboratively internally and across organizations.
Establish and maintain relationships with community partners.
Respond quickly and effectively to many competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Navigate numerous different systems simultaneously to support customer service outcomes.
