Description
Hennepin County's Service Center department is looking for a Strategy and Operations intern to support our department. In this role, you will work with the Service Center's Strategy and Operations coordinator and the Learning and Development unit to help employees make decisions, improve their work processes, leverage new technologies, and create strategic plans for their future work. You will learn how to plan and facilitate meetings, workshops, and trainings that empower staff to collaborate and improve the fundamentals of our work. We value customer service and are looking for candidates who are well organized and eager to learn new skills. The intern hired will receive skill development training and networking opportunities within Hennepin County. Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. This internship will start in February 2025 and last one year in duration. The intern will work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Work hours may be scheduled around a student’s class schedule, but must fall within the regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
· Help plan and facilitate staff meetings, workshops, and trainings.
· Assist with strategic planning sessions.
· Help develop leadership development materials and trainings.
· Partner with staff to plan and implement process improvement projects.
· Promote change management principals within the department.
· Help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the department, and develop and implement evaluation tools for the Service Center department.
· Participate in professional development activities and trainings.
· Network with staff and expand your professional network.
Need to have:
· Current enrollment for the academic year 2024-2025 in an associate or bachelor's degree program.
· Ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a hybrid environment.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Access Visio, and/or OneNote) or Google equivalent products (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meet, Google Slides, Google Keep).
· Interest in:
o Exploring the public sector as an area for future career growth.
o Quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
· Ability to:
o Work effectively with vendors, departments, and county staff in a professional manner, and be courteous and respectful to others.

o Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
