Description
Hennepin County is seeking a Senior IT Administrator to join their Cloud Operations team. As a part of this team, you will work with IT Architects, IT Engineers, business partners, solutions developers and other technical professionals to deliver solutions in Hennepin’s Hybrid Cloud environment. This is a highly technical position requiring DevOps and coding skills, along with server, network and cloud administration expertise. Ultimately, this position will be responsible for administering Azure workloads, provisioning resources, and automating administrative tasks in our hybrid cloud environment.
Experience with PowerShell, VS Code and Terraform are highly desired along with experience in Windows and/or Linux administration.
Hennepin County operates infrastructure in multiple datacenters and public clouds. Knowledge and experience with administration of Microsoft Windows Server and Azure are foundational requirements and coding and automation are the primary deliverables. The Cloud Operations team is responsible for deploying and supporting enterprise infrastructure, virtual desktops, databases and business solutions for multiple lines of business and the enterprise. This complex environment spans multiple datacenters and Azure tenants and is supported on a 24/7 basis.

Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $2383.98 that can be earned annually based on performance. In this position, you will:
· Deploy, maintain and support IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions both on premise and in the cloud.
· Deliver Infrastructure as Code and automate administrative tasks.
· Using modern DevOps practices including tools like GitHub, PowerShell, VS Code, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Ansible.
· Implement highly available solutions in collaboration with distributed teams of architects, networking professionals, developers, business analysts and other technical support staff in Azure and on-premises.
· Consult with architects, developers and engineers to deliver workloads and code for automation.
· Plan for and coordinate system changes with customers and technical peers.
· Perform application performance monitoring, logging and alerting in Azure.
· Provide consulting and mentoring to lines of business and peers on automation and cloud service delivery.
· Work as part of a team to deliver solutions in Microsoft Azure and on-premise.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Seven years or more of information technology experience.
o Associate's/vocational/technical degree in an information technology field and five years or more of information technology experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science/engineering, or a related information technology field and three years or more of IT administration or IT database administration experience.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Programming/scripting for system administration or delivering infrastructure as code.
o Supporting and administration of server operating systems or cloud infrastructure.
o Automating administrative tasks using PowerShell.
· Knowledge of:
o Azure Cloud.
o Code management using Azure DevOps, Git, Github or similar technologies.
o Cloud Provider Rest API/PowerShell/CLI.
· Ability to:
o Research and develop cloud operational services.
o Establish and maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization and lead teams.
o Work in a team environment assuring customer satisfaction and technical excellence.
o Adapt to changing priorities, demands, and timelines.
o Work independently under minimal supervision.
o Champion cloud adoption throughout the organization.
o Continuously learn new skills and be adaptable to evolving technologies and standards.
