Description
The Hennepin County Information Technology (IT) department is hiring for three positions:
· Desktop Provisioning Technician - As part of the new employee onboarding and new equipment process, the Desktop Provisioning position works closely with Service Center concierges, service desk, IT Asset Management, and System & Software deployment staff to ensure the customer receives a stable and reliable desktop computing device build. This position oversees the daily activities related to the imaging of desktop computing equipment and provisioning of related peripherals.
· IT Asset Disposal Technician - As part of the equipment decommissioning process, this position oversees the daily activities related to the decommissioning of desktop computing, Data Center, Telecommunications, and other IT equipment. This position ensures that all media pertaining is either cleared, purged, or destroyed following defined procedures that support standards and compliance with CJIS and HIPAA.
· Service Coordinator - This position oversees the daily activities related to the timely delivery of customer services for IT Desktop Equipment and it’s provisioning along with providing warranty hardware administration and support under the guidelines of a self-maintainer program.

Effective December 31, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range. Location and hours: These positions are located in downtown Minneapolis at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN, 55415. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility in start and end times. Based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.About this position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position is internally classified as a level one Technical Analyst within the Information Technology (IT) Analyst job classification series.Click here to view the job classification specification.At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $1,596.87 that can be earned annually based on performance.In this position, you will:
· Desktop Provisioning Technician
o Stage desktop and laptop equipment using various tools and technologies to a base customer pre-provisioning state.
o Assist customers who request additional service with installation of line of business applications based on software role for associated area.
o Assist customers with scheduled deployment services as part of project coordination.
o Pull appropriate equipment from stock, package equipment, label for shipping, and coordinate with Central Services on delivery of equipment when appropriate.
o Assist with staging equipment for reuse by setting back to factory defaults for future provisioning.
o Assist with new employee onboarding and offboarding processes as it relates to equipment provisioning.
· IT Asset Disposal Technician
o Receive and process assets that are designated to be decommissioned ensuring all appropriate inventory data is captured and updated in the hardware AMDB (Asset Management Database).
o Collaborate with lines of business, Service Management, Digital Forensics, Facility Services, and Project Management Office to ensure the proper decommissioning and disposal of equipment during projects.
o Works with Facility Services and Environmental Offices to ensure the documentation and procedures are in place for the proper storage, care, and disposal of hazarded waste materials in IT equipment.
o Organize and maintain incoming inventory, current inventory, and outgoing inventory by stocking material neatly in designated areas.
· Service Coordinator
o Triage and assign incoming service event tickets to appropriate staff and groups for fulfillment.
o Coordinate between teams to ensure customer receives equipment as requested in a timely manner.
o Ensure all related financial information needed for charge-backs is accurately accounted for and documented for IT Finance team.
o Communicate with customer and other staff when needed.
o Resolve any discrepancies in service due to lack of information provided or an error that occurred in the process.
o Ensure all appropriate information to the service request has been entered so that other staff members can fulfill the request.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Two years or more of experience in information technology.
o Associates/vocational/technical degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position.
o Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses.
o Completion of approved IT Hennepin County internship.
· Ability to assisted lifting of up to 50 pounds.
· Willingness to obtain required vendor support certifications within 30 days of employment.
Nice to have:
· CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and/or Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional (CHAMP) certificate(s).
· Experience:
o Troubleshooting, analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, application, and network problems in a desktop environment.
o Using Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
o Managing inventory.
· Knowledge of:
o Laptop and desktop repair.
o Hardware configuration.
· Ability to multitask and pivot based on workload.
