Hennepin County's Information Technology (IT) department is seeking a Senior IT Engineer to focus on and grow process automation on the Server and Domain Services team. This position will provide subject matter expertise, establish standard processes, and support when integrating new processes into the existing infrastructure. Additionally, this position provides leadership by partnering with design and implementation teams to ensure that organizational goals are met while coaching and mentoring other technicians throughout the county. Location and hours: This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come onsite 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.While this position is designated as remote based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. In this position, you will:
Utilize knowledge and expertise of scripting and automation technologies to create and maintain repeatable processes used to deploy and maintain infrastructure.
Develop, document, and train technical staff on the support processes related to new solutions.
Work with the Architecture and Operations teams to develop standards and repeatable processes.
Research and implement best practices.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Eight or more years of information technology experience.
Associate/vocational/technical degree in computer science, engineering, or a related information technology field and six or more years of information technology experience.
Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems, data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related information technology field and four or more years of information technology experience.
Current certification in a leading professional level certification area (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, Infoblox Core DDI, etc.).

Experience:
Automating and orchestrating processes through PowerShell, GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
Managing code through version control (Git Version Control).
Utilizing RestAPI, JSON, Infrastructure as Code Tools, and Terraform.
With cloud-based technologies (Azure and/or AWS).
Utilizing and managing APIs.
Building infrastructure including servers (Windows and/or Linux), virtual environments and cloud resources.
Knowledge of:
On Premise and Cloud Networking Concepts.
Modern Authentication Methods.
Cloud computing concepts.
Ability to:
Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary and diverse team.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within all levels of the organization and lead teams.
