Description
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office is seeking an Office Specialist III to work in the Youth Prosecution Division. This division prosecutes youth who commit offenses including all felony, gross misdemeanor, misdemeanor, petty, traffic, and status offenses. The division also handles disposition of youth delinquents who commit offenses elsewhere but who reside in Hennepin County and prosecutes adult felons who are codefendants of youth suspects. Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit employee referral program.Location and hours:This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Hennepin County Health Services Building, 525 Portland Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415 and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota and Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.About this position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position is internally classified as an Office Specialist III.Click here to view the job classification specification. In this position, you will:
· Support 1-3 paralegals with uploading evidence, requesting discovery and inventorying the items from police agencies. This may involve watching body worn camera footage and taking notes.
· Upload e-filed documents from an e-mail mailbox.
· Enter cases into a case management system using various applications to compile information.
· Perform backup reception duties which include answer the phone, forwarding calls, greeting guests, and mail runs while in the office.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Two or more years of full-time office clerical experience (or part-time experience equal to two years of full-time experience).
o Completion of two years or more of post-high school education.
o 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
o One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training Program.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Working in a legal office, or a public sector or government office setting.
o Performing receptionist functions, including answering a variety of customer questions in person, through email, and/or by telephone.
o Working with client records that contain highly confidential information and have to be handled and stored according to specific security procedures.
o Using databases and ability to perform data entry.
· Skill working with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as Microsoft Outlook or other email/calendar programs
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Ability to:
o Serve and communicate with the general public and staff members with tact and discretion.
o Identify and define problems and make decisions, and to meet deadlines and produce accurate work products in a fast-paced office environment.
o Conduct oneself professionally and to deal with confidential issues.
o Respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
