The Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is seeking a Principal Office Specialist to join its Client and Community Restoration division, to work in the Community Productive Day unit. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 3000 North Second Street, Minneapolis, MN 55411 and remote as job duties allow. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with flexibility. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. · Effectively interact with individuals from social, economic and culturally diverse backgrounds.
· Express ideas clearly in written and verbal communications.
· Assist clients in person with filling out forms; verify information on forms and other documents for completeness and accuracy prior to processing.
· Excellent customer service skills with the ability to conduct oneself professionally and handle sensitive/difficult issues in a tactful manner, particularly issues of a confidential nature.
· Input, export and modify information and data stored in computerized systems.
· Process and verify complex information on forms, documents.
· Write, prepare and proofread specialized correspondence, lists, reports and other standard office documents, develop forms and/or assist with revision.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Three or more years of office clerical experience.
o 30 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
o A combination of office clerical experience and post high school education, totaling 3 years or more (3 semester credits = 1 month).
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
Nice to have:
· Experience working with confidential information.
· Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word and Excel, and tracking/managing inventories and/or financial transactions.
· Excellent customer service skills with the ability to conduct oneself professionally and handle sensitive/difficult issues in a tactful manner, particularly issues of a confidential nature.
· Ability to:
o Multi-task while recognizing priorities and meeting established deadlines.
o Establish and maintain rapport with the public and staff, and to work harmoniously in a team environment.
