Description
Hennepin County is seeking an Internal Content Creator with excellent communication skills to coordinate and create multi-media content products for internal communications. This position will collaborate closely with other communicators in the department and subject matter experts across Hennepin County to serve up content that informs, engages, and inspires Hennepin County employees and tells the story of their work and impact. They will provide communications coordination and consultation and create content for internal publications including writing and editing and supporting with multi-media materials including photos, video and audio to enhance internal storytelling and information-sharing. Location and hours:This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with occasional evenings and/or weekends. While this position is designated as remote, based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.About the position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position internally classified as a Communications Specialist, Senior.Click here to view the job classification specification. In this position, you will:
· Provide communications consultation and content coordination in partnership with others on internal projects and initiatives to document and meet goals, requirements, and audience information needs.
· Write and edit internal newsletters and messages; capture audio, photos and video in interviews and at meetings and events; manage content on intranet sites; and monitor metrics.
· Enhance internal storytelling and information-sharing for county-wide publications as well as for specific departments and program areas including in Human Services, Public Works, and the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Six or more years of related professional communications experience.
o Two years of college and four or more years of related professional communications experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, English, communications, mass communications, marketing, media studies, graphic design, photojournalist, telecommunications, visual communications, public administration or related field and two or more years of related professional communications experience.
Nice to have:
· Experience
o Working in communications or public relations in the public sector or internal communications.
o Converting technical information into a plain language text for readers.
o Interviewing people for articles or other content development.
o Capturing photos and video for general storytelling.
o Evaluating the effectiveness of communication efforts and audience reach.
o Using Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Workfront, GovDelivery or other email management system, or Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop.
· Ability
o Working independently and collaboratively.
o Working under deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
