Description
Hennepin County's Service Centers department is seeking a Service Center Manager to manage the daily operations of the Hennepin County Government Center. This position is a match for individuals with strong leadership and staff development skills interested in working in a fast-paced and ever-evolving customer service and records management environment. Hennepin County's Service Centers provide services related to driver's licenses, motor vehicles, and vital records.Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. Location and hours:This position is on-site and will be performed at the Hennepin County Government Center, at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55487. In this position, you will:
· Manage the daily operations of the service center and arrange for maintenance of facilities and equipment.
· Monitor transactions and ensure compliance to business rules, policy, and procedures; ensure accuracy and appropriateness of transactions.
· Maintain a system which accounts for and ensures the security of all money/assets; assist in budget preparation and oversee purchasing.
· Assist staff in serving customers, resolving conflicts, and providing technical expertise.
· Enforce labor contracts and human resources rules/procedures.
· Evaluate the performance of staff, take appropriate action on disciplinary matters, verify and monitor staff proficiency, identify staff development needs, oversee training and education activities, and conduct staff meetings.
· Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Need to have:
· Four years or more of experience managing operations, processes, and/or systems in a government-business records management or service delivery environment and one year or more of supervisory/lead experience.
o Note: Education in business, public administration, or another field appropriate to the position may be substituted for the operations, processes, and/or systems management experience on a year-for-year basis.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o With complex legal and financial transactions and processes.
o Managing budgets and/or monitoring revenues and expenditures.
o Processing driver’s license and motor vehicle transactions.
o Working with staff development.
· Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.
· Ability to:
o Analyze systems, procedures, and problems and address them appropriately.
o Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
o Work harmoniously with staff at all levels, including public officials, outside agencies, and the public.
· Bilingual skills highly desired.
