DescriptionChildren and Family Services is seeking multiple Senior Social Workers in the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) unit to be assigned to state wards, children placed in the county through the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC), and Permanent Custody to the Agency youth. These positions will work to ensure children or youth in out of home placement receive support in foster placement and receive social services necessary to meet their needs to continue to grow and develop. The services are customized based on assessments, monitoring, and coordinating the team of professionals and foster parents working with the child. These positions focus on goals which impact the safety, well-being, and permanency for each child. These positions will also supervise a caseload of approximately 15-20 children and youth providing case management services for those in out-of-home placement.Effective January 1, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range. Location and hours:These positions are hybrid and will work face-to-face in the community and with tribal partners throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin, and remotely as job duties require. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Evenings and weekends may be required as needed. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. Ensure the child or youth’s well-being needs are met through placements being supported, services provided, connections maintained to family and children, and cultural needs are being addressed.
Assess the ongoing needs of the child and youth making referrals when services are needed, and monitoring of the services provided.
Meet with the children face-to-face, on a monthly basis to establish and build relationships.
Transport children, parents, and attend appointments if needed.
Make placement referrals and decisions when a change in placement is needed.
Complete Out-of-Home Placement Plans addressing the specific needs of the child or youth.
Complete Independent Living Skills Plans for youth ages fourteen and older addressing housing, employment, education, transportation, physical and mental health, social connections and supports, and vital documents.
Work closely with the extended foster care team when permanency cannot be obtained prior to a youth aging out of foster care.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and at least 18 semester (27 quarter) credits of graduate work in the above areas, and three years or more of full-time supervised experience as a social worker.
Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field with course work emphasis in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and principles or social welfare.
Licensed as a Graduate Social Worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.
A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County Driver's Permit.
Access to reliable transportation to transport clients as needed.
Nice to have:
Current licensed or working toward being licensed as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and working towards becoming clinically licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).
