Description
Hennepin County Human Resources department is seeking a Workers' Compensation Technical Specialist to manage the administrative and financial functions of Hennepin County's workers' compensation unit including supervision of the workers' compensation support staff. This position will require collaboration with and provide support to the Workers' Compensation Manager and multiple agencies within the county to innovate administrative processes with a substantial focus on technology. The position reports to the Workers' Compensation Manager. Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. For more information visit Employee referral program. Location and hours:This position is hybrid working primarily remote with some onsite work needed. The candidate will need to have the ability to report to county facilities, when requested. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. · Develop performance objectives and goals, implement training programs and supervise staff who perform claim support functions related to the county’s workers’ compensation unit.
· Establish, prioritize and implement best practices and protocols to ensure operational compliance for timely and accurate financial processing, regulatory reporting, data integrity and other claim support functions.
· Manage data reporting for internal customers, reinsurance reporting, and external entities that include both state and federal regulatory agencies.
· Establish and manage maintenance tables and form letters in claim application software in support of claims management functions.
· Identify, develop and implement solutions to complex operational needs and special projects, which includes a heavy emphasis on technology.
· Support the workers’ compensation manager by keeping up to date on workers’ compensations laws, rules and legislation; assist with developing best practices and operational improvement opportunities regarding claims management processes and procedures, which may include conducting file audits for overall performance standards.
· Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Eight or more years of experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations in workers' compensation claims administration, data practices, and records management compliance work.
o Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or other field appropriate to the position and four or more years of experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations in workers' compensation claims administration, data practices, and records management compliance work.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Working with workers’ compensation claims in the State of Minnesota.
o Managing and providing work direction for support staff.
o With FileHandler or other similar workers' compensation software.
o With CAMPUS system within the state of Minnesota.
· Knowledge of diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.
· Ability to run reports (financial data and loss runs) and interpret information, including approving and auditing invoices and records.
· Lived experience or education around addressing Racial equity, Gender equity, LGBTQIA equity, Neurodiversity equity, differing ability equity.
