Description
The Facility Services department is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker to join its dynamic downtown team. This position is responsible for maintaining the building grounds, snow removal, performs maintenance tasks, and assists with event setups.

Location and hours:This position is located at Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55487. Work hours will be 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work hours for this position may be extended during weekdays, weekends and/or holidays to accommodate the needs of the facility.

In this position, you will:
· Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building maintenance duties involved in the repair and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds.
· Perform general duties including painting, carpentry, light vehicle service, light plumbing, grounds maintenance, and interior and exterior cleaning of the facilities.
· Maintain and operate a variety of power and hand tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
· Operate and maintain large equipment; maintain driveways and other concrete surfaces (e.g., sweeping, snow removal, etc.); shovel and plow snow in extremely cold temperatures.
· Assist building engineer and contractors.
· Operate and maintain small gas engines/equipment.
· Perform janitorial duties; clean and stock restrooms, clean windows, empty trash containers, and collect and dispose of trash from grounds.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o One year or more of custodial or general mechanical and facilities maintenance experience.
o Completion of the Building Operations Technician Pathway training program.
· A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit.
· Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Ability to work under conditions hazardous to oneself and others; work outdoors in extreme temperatures.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Servicing and repairing snow removal and power equipment.
o With basic locksmith and door repair duties.
o Working with customers or clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
· Knowledge of the use of hand and power tools.
· Basic computer skills.
· Ability to:
o Operate motorized snow removal equipment.
o Work early and/or extended hours, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the needs of the facilities.
o Communicate effectively with customers, clients, and co-workers.
o Work as a team member and independently to complete assigned work.
