Front Desk / Receptionist- Casual hours. Hours for this position will flex from week to week. (10-30 hours a week is what is anticipated)
The location of this position would primarily be in our Plymouth clinic. Minnesota Urology is looking for someone who is responsible for efficiently and compassionately checking in and registering patients for appointments with the clinic including coordinating patient flow, distributing incoming calls, locating and requesting records for patient appointments, and providing additional support as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer and direct clinic front desk multi-line telephone system routing calls to appropriate personnel.
Effectively and efficiently coordinate the patient check-in/registration process including checking and verifying insurance information, referrals, insurance eligibility, current demographics, collecting co-pays and accurately entering the appropriate information in NextGen.
Assist in the preparation of the patient medical records to ensure adequate records are available for patient appointments.
Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the reception area.
Assist patients with needs while in the reception area (ie. refreshments).
Follow standard clinic supply protocol.
Complete daily deposit including balancing and forwarding to the Business Services Department.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES TO EFFECTIVELY PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES:
Represent Metro Urology in a professional manner related to appearance, communication and the maintenance of patient confidentiality.
Ability to effectively incorporate the use of technology into day-to-day tasks (Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite, NextGen and UroChart).
Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, co-workers, management, and providers.
Ability to travel to additional locations if staffing needs require.
Perform accurate entry of patient registration and other data entry into NextGen.
Supportive of the goals and objectives of Metro Urology.
Consistent attendance and punctuality.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Medical training program preferred (ie. Medical Office Assistant, Medical Assistant).
Minimum of one year reception experience, within a medical office/clinic, preferred, including some background in insurance.
EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Computer keyboard, monitor and printer, writing utensils, multi-line telephone, copy/fax machine, and scanner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires sitting for long periods of time working in an office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Fast-paced office environment with consistent telephone and in-person contact with providers, co-workers, patients, and other external contacts.
